So could it be possible that higher end models and/or brands of capture cards would give significantly better latency to be worth the extra cost?Īnyway, thanks for reading and if anyone else has capture cards test results to report with Wirecast 14.3, it'd be great to hear. Is lesser latency a factor of one's capture card? Or how much of it is a function of CPU/GPU, BlackMagic driver version, and Wirecast version? The UltraStudio Recorder is certainly one of the less expensive models.

So at least with Catalina OS, there's no need to go higher with the driver, (but curious if anybody else gets newer (12.0 or 12.1) drivers to still work with the UltraStudio Thunderbolt (2) model.Īnd a related question, Is it possible that with the new Thunderbolt 3 model of the UltraStudio Recorder and/or newer driver, perhaps the image latency might be lessened a bit? Its always been a whole lotta milliseconds with the Thunderbolt 2 models, even with the 16" macbook pro 2.3ghz 8-core i9 and 8GB graphics chip.

Thanks Craig, and an update: I just tested wirecast 14.3 with the BlackMagic Desktop video driver 11.7 and happy to say HDMI input with the UltraStudio Thunderbolt (2) model works just fine. Much obliged for any info or best-guesses, thanks much! If anybody could let me know what to expect, i'd be most appreciative, since it might save me a lot of installation, testing and tweaking!! (and possibly un-installing, then reinstalling and getting things back to a currently working system) So with that pop-up recommendation inside Wirecast, am i to assume that the 12.1 driver will work with my original Thunderbolt Ultrastudio models? i'm ready to re-up my Wirecast subscription for another year, to start working with some new features inside version 14.3, but might decide to hold off for the moment if i also have a buy a new pair of UltraStudios in order to use my cameras. (BTW: the latest Desktop Video driver version is 12.1, and still no mention). However, looking at the release notes for Desktop Video driver 12.0, they say it adds support for the new(er) UltraStudio Thunderbolt 3 models but makes no mention of whether the original Thunderbolt models are still supported. Blackmagic Utilities Included Blackmagic Media Express software comes free with every DeckLink card. Booting up the Wirecast 14.3 demo, i get a warning message saying my BlackMagic driver is out of date, and i must download the latest one. I've been running 14.01 and using the BlackMagic Desktop video driver version 11.4.1 with a pair of Blackmagic UltraStudio Thunderbolt models to bring a couple DSLR cameras into Wirecast via HDMI.
